Well, I don't have much time now, so I'll keep this short. After all this
talk about Ritchie and appearances, I thought I might do a little photo
manipulation... watch this space for further details...
While you were out, the message said...

"Ricochet" = "Kneel and Pray", its just a different title. And of course
it
eventually got new lyrics and ended up as "Speed King".

It's a pirate release of the official 1976 release "Made in Europe", minus
"You Fool No One". This pirate was often found in record stores during the
80s, often as a picture disc LP just titled "Live". The recordings are
from
Ritchie's last Mk3 gigs, in April 1975. The same tapes are featured in a
fuller version on the 2CD "Mk III : The Final Concerts" released some
years
ago.

I've also heard that Gillan and Coverdale once planned on doing an album
of
50's standards together! Probably a rumour though, even though it's kinda
intriguing. I guess David would have taken the Little Richard tunes and
that
Ian would have taken the Elvis ones. The only question is - who would have
taken the Roy Orbison songs???
Daniel
I remember sometimes in the late 80's Gillan saying that Purple recorded
an
albums worth of Eivis and Buddy Holly stuff(could this have been during
the
"Hush 88" sessions?

Subject: DP Set List
Fortunately DP is one of the few bands that have a number of tunes that
can drive your through the floor to open a set. Even on their lesser
albums (after Mach I) their opening cuts are drivers. My personal
favorite opener would be Speedking, but you don't lose much with Highway
Star, Fireball, or even the recent Ted the Mechanic.
I was lucky enough to catch the Steve Morse Band in Atlanta October 12th
and gotta say its great to see Steve enjoying getting back to his roots
and having a great time. How he can go from playing the Royal Albert one
week to that tiny theatre the next shows how little ego he has and that
he really is willing to play for the fun of it. It's easy to see how his
attitude has had a positive effect on the band. Now if we could just
get Richie to reform Rainbow with Dio (yes I'm dreaming) and play his
15th Century Rainbows Night on the side we could have the best of all
worlds.

I seriously doubt it. When playing in Stockholm on the SOTT tour, someone
in
the audience shouted "Ritchie Blackmore" and David answered "Ritchie
Baldmore - what happened to her?". He said it with a joking voice, but it
doesn't really show too much respect from his part.
Daniel
Towards the end of Whitesnake (early 90's) I heard that Blackmore was
going
to join Snake on stage for three songs. Did this ever happen and if so
what
were the songs performed?

It's the same song, but in a different stage of writing "Speed King".
Not a huge amount of changes between the two, but it's not a mistitling.
And yes, "Rat Bat Blue" would be a great addition to the live show, but I
would vote no on "Strangeways". Not that I get a vote, but, well, you
know what I mean......

I have the picture Chris is talking about and as Nigel already
have said, this is not true. But have a look for yourself at:

Btw, does this means that Jon Lord is not the one in the blue hat?! :-)

I believe I've seen the same cassette a long time ago, and it's just an
edited version (without You Fool No One) of Made In Europe. Maybe they
didn't have cassettes that are long enough...
