Is Graham Bonnet really a millionaire? My friend told me that he is a
millionaire and that was why he could pay for Yngwie and Vai.

Hey, music lovers!

I’m working on the Celebrity Deathmatch pages again and need your help. If
you know of official band links for bands that I’ve detailed but have not
included a link for, please send it along to me. Also, if I haven’t done
one of your favorites justice (or at all), send in your two bits and I’ll
include it.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about, cruise on by
http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Balcony/8910, take the link to the
Celebrity Deathmatch pages and see what I’m talking about…

Joe Lyn Turner did an okay job, and I like Doogie White's version
too.

*That* was messed up! In kind of a good way, though...
Gillan-Sabbath's version rocks on every bootleg I have. Anyone who
thinks Reading '83 is good but doesn't have Worcester from that tour, GET
IT. It was a shortened set, but un-#$%(at-a-domain-named)ing-believable.

For me the best Purple live song ever is that Mistreated in MIE. Ritchie
on
his best with the best rock vocalist of all time : David coverdale. I
wonder
who of you have heard the Stalkers in Japan album from David Coverdale and
Adrian vandenburg. It is stunning. It is just mr Coverdale with an
acoustic
guitar in japan. The best Whtiesnake album ever. I wonder how it would
have
sound with ritchie on guitar.

My greetings from South Africa. And I hope the Springboks win the rugby
world cup.

Keep rocking.

Subject: Screaming Lord Sutch Obituary

While discussing things musical related to Stonehenge, I was finding the
account of a certain dwarf and a certain Black Sabbath set at
www.gillan.com. On going there, I also discovered an obituary for
Screaming Lord Sutch. Seems he was suffering from depression after the
death of his mother and took his own life. He will be missed by me, that's
for sure.

I never saw him run for office, but I do have a record of his with
Blackmore playing guitar and the music is unbelievably wild. SLS didn't
sing, of course, but I didn't buy it for the vocals. It's a shame he
couldn't keep riding that wave of manic energy all the time: as a person
who suffers bipolar mood swings from time to time, I know how high you can
be one day, and how low the next. It's a real shame that Screaming got as
low as he did, as he deserved so much better. If you ever get a chance to
get a SLS record, do so and enjoy it! The man was an institution in early
British rock and his bands were where many of the UK's top rockers honed
their chops. You owe it to his memory to look up his music.

Hi,

Just a little mistake. I was checking out my links on my web. I've tried
to put in on 3 different addresses. At Pandora (my own provider) it just
dissapeared (they told me because I use Frontpage). Geocities did not work
neither. My place.to.be the same.
But Geocities seems to be working now. Still some small mistakes, but at
least it is up. At http://www.listen.to/dpm

My email (with my homepage address) was sent by itself. How? Dunno.

My homepage is stil not working like I want to. For example: my buttons,
some links, and much too slow. My index page is also a bit boring.
Therefor I would like to receive some pictures which I can use on my
homepage.

And I can't hardly wait till Saturday evening! Friday we (my wife Gina and
my youngest daughter Maaike) will be leaving Brugge on Friday morning till
Monday evening. Dunno yet if I will be at the convention, depends on what
the boss will say. But Saturday we (Johan Van Ryckeghem will join me too)
will be at the meeting at the Goat Tavern.

I include my review of "The Final concerts" Can't seem to find my review
of Foxbat anymore.

besteen,

Michel

Subject: Total Abandon Video

I just got the TA video and my reaction is that this is one
AWESOME piece of DP-ness! It was so cool to have in my hands and know that
I can watch it again and again…
First off, though, I want to let you all know that the DP
online store is the only place to get this or the TA CD, and both/either
are well worth it! The ordering is secure, easy, and fast: I got each item
I ordered from the website in a matter of days via normal surface mail.
OK, now for the video: it is awesome, as I mentioned above.
It really captures a lot of the playing around that goes on between the
band and makes sense of quite a few odd sounds one may hear on the TA CD.
I think that a slightly different sound mix is used on the video, as it
brings out more of Roger and Steve’s backing vocals and one can almost
hear Gillan pounding away on his bongos. (Sorry, Big Ian, but Little Ian
is *much* louder than you… ;-) It’s a great video, well done, not a
bootleg, very good quality, and is worth every penny I spent on it.
Being able to see the music while I hear it allowed me to
better concentrate on different parts: those visual cues are quite handy
at times! I can also say that my son and I can do a much better job of air
guitars to SOTW now that we’ve seen how Morse handles his axe…

Now that I’ve seen it, though, I had a few observations…

1. Ian Gillan does a *much* better job on the tambourine than Davy Jones
of the Monkees or Jan Brady ever did. He should consider a career as a
professional tambourinist should this singing gig of his not work out.
2. When short-haired Ian Gillan wears a uniform-looking outfit, he looks
like Captain James T. Kirk (from Star Trek). When he has on a normal
t-shirt, he looks more like Bill Murray.
3. Speaking of Star Trek, If Big Ian is Capt. Kirk, Jon Lord would be
Scotty, Ian Paice would be Bones (“I’m a drummer, not a songwriter!”),
Roger Glover would be Mr. Spock, and Steve Morse would be… Yeoman Rand? I
dunno, he’s kinda hard to place… The Trekkies on this list will have to
help out with that.
4. Why does Mr. Morse switch off with different guitars during the
concert? Each guitarist has his reasons for using particular guitars and
all… I just would like to know what his are.
5. Ian Gillan seems to have a serious mike stand addiction. Whenever he’s
not holding on to one and singing, his left hand shakes around in all
kinds of crazy ways. When he’s holding the stand, it’s all good…

If sure I won't be the only one to mention this but.... Well, it seems
David Coverdale turns 50 today! While he isn't my favorite Deep Purple
vocalist, I wish him well. Maybe higher album sales would be a nice
present.

Oddly enough, it's also the birthday of Joan Jett and Debbie Boone!

I wouldn't ask DC to blow out the candles though - the way he sings it
sounds like he's out of breath a lot.

BTW, it seems I recently cannot get Gillan's "If you Believe me" out of
my head. Not that I mind!
