     DOH!  How could I forget, when talking about kick ass DP covers, Metal
Church's version of Highway Star?  It's on their self-titled album (one of
the ones you can still get; a couple went out of print :(), and like I said
it kicks some serious ass.
     You'll be able to hear a live version of MC playing it soon, when
their live album; recorded on =The Dark= tour; comes out.  Actually, I
think another live album from that era is out in Japan already, something
put out by their old management or Elektra or something if you can't wait.

{Dean "Metal Church RULES!" Webb: D'oh! I got that one, too, and I kept
forgetting to mention it. Whatever happened to them? They kinda fell off
the radar screen back in the late 80's...}

HI,
I agree with you on some songs that coverdale could do better Plant
songs than Plant could do Coverdale's.
  For example, imagine Coverdale doing "Whole Lotta Love". This song is
perfect for his style. On the other hand, i cannot imagine David pulling
off " Going to California", can you??
  Some song's that Robert Plant could do of Coverdale's i think would be
" Mistreated", I think Plant would be great for this song as it is
perfect for his screaming, high pitched style that he tents to use.
I could not imagine him doing "Soldier of Fortune". No Way!! or any
numbers from CTTB, espescially You keep on Movin'
See Ya

{Dean Webb: Coverdale could do just about the whole Physical Graffiti
album, with special attention to "Trampled Underfoot", "The Wanton Song",
"Night Flight", and "Ten Years Gone." I just can't see Plant feeling right
about doing "Burn" or "Might Just Take Your Life." Maybe if he were allowed
to reggae it up and do it more like Elvis...}

{Dean "PS" Webb: That reminds me! Another DP cover: Dread Zeppelin does
"Smoke on the Water" on their release, Tortelvis SIngs the Classics. They
also do a great massacre of some other classic-rock fare.}

I remember that I read somewhere in the book that the author is maybe
planning
to translate it in English next year. For more infos, contact him:

guy.

Robert Plant has done a Coverdale cover before. In their first U.S. tour a
few years ago Page/Plant did the Coverdale/Page song "Shake My Tree". They
also did Plant's solo song "Calling To You". I was really surprised to hear
"Shake My Tree", especially after the uncomplimentary things Plant said
about Coverdale in the press. It wasn't an especially spirited
rendition----it looked like Plant was doing the song because he had to.

"I don't want to taste your poison" is from Jesus Christ Superstar. One of
IG's finest moments is the soliloquy tune known as Gethsemane on   the
original studio soundtrack recording, not to be confused with the movie
soundtrack with Ted Neely. On Nobody's Perfect the band does a few measures
of the main JC superstar theme to boot.

That one's out official, on the EP "New, Live and Rare Vol. 3" (A-side:
"Smoke on the Water" from BBC in Concert 1972 (then unreleased, but since
included on the 1992 EMI CD-release of the "Deep Purple in Concert" album),
the b-side has "Grabsplatter" and the BBC studio version of "Bird Has
Flown" played by MkII. EMI 1980)
Cheers,

Does anyone have a copy of DP's recent appearance on the British morning TV
program? I'd love to get a copy of it. I'll gladly reimburse anyone for the
cost of the video, shipping, etc.
Thanks in advance to my fellow Purple lovers.

often frequented.........

{Dean Webb: So how about it, gang? Has participation in a DP-related list
caused a change in your listening and buying habits? It got me to crank out
the releases I had been neglecting and either discovering I should not have
neglected them or that I should continue to neglect them, but with reason.}

Are there any officially released Led Zep. songs performed by
David Coverdale? I saw on a Whitesnake site the tittle "Rock&Roll"
by Page & Coverdale listed as a bootleg. Are there more of these?
Does anyone have this bootleg? Coverdale/Page is a great album!
"Rock&Roll" must have been an unreleased song from the Coverdale/Page
sessions......I hope there are more of them.......

Subject: Vote for good music!

This is an invitation/plea to all fans of Deep Purple on this list to
vote for the best music.  At
http://homepage.calypso.net/~ci-20230/complete.htm   ,  There is a vote
results page that needs a lot of fans of good music to get to.  When I
arrived, Deep Purple only had two songs that had received votes, SOTW,
and Child in Time.  Black Sabbath and Judas Priest were in similar
situations.
There's far too much Dream Theater and Bon Jovi compared to Deep Purple.
I'm asking you to help me do something about it.  Thank you.
